Iran Test-Fires Nine Missiles.

Today Iran has test-fired nine missiles including a new version of the Shahab-3 which means that Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and the Arabian peninsula are all within the nation’s attack range. The test came one day after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the idea that the U.S. and/or Israel would attack Iran was a “funny joke.” However, they have also made it clear that if attacked, they will attack Israel.

As you might expect, the tests have lead to two very different responses from Senators Obama and McCain. Obama has said that this test shows why it’s critical for the U.S. to step up strong diplomacy and economic sanctions as well as offer incentives to persuade Iran to take a better and more peaceful path. However, Senator McCain has said that this demonstrates the need for systems like STAR WARS.

This is great news! Now we can use Iran as a proxy to take out the Waabii-ist (sp?) schools in Saudi Arabia that spawn & train all the Taliban & Radical Islamists in Pakistan while taking them out with Iranian missiles as well.

This is win-win-win for the US.

1 win for killing & destroying the schools that raised those responsible for 9-11
1 win for killing & destroying the training & planning grounds for future attacks on the US
1 win for destroying the Iranian missiles.

How could things not be more perfect?! :)

Sadly, that’s probably Dick Cheney’s view of the situation. I still don’t think a military response is unavoidably in the cards thankfully. It certainly could be, but there’s more moderate voices(in terms of use of force) in the Bush administration now than there were back when we invaded Iraq so I’m hoping they can drown out the more hawkish voices like the Vice President.

Of course, from McCain’s perspective it would be one hell of an October surprise. :P
